Roma are the favourites to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to reports.

Ceballos is struggling for consistent game time at Madrid and, as such, has been linked with a move away from the club in January.

According Il Posticipo via talkSPORT, Roma are now the favourites to sign the midfielder as their sporting director Monchi, is already preparing a bid.

Arsenal and Tottenham had been linked with the 21-year-old. Ceballos has ambitions of making Spain’s World Cup squad, but his big move to Real Madrid hasn’t worked out as well as he hoped.

The move followed a string of highly impressive performances in the u21 European Championships last summer. However, since joining, he’s made just five appearances in La Liga. He’s seen the pitch for only 167 minutes.

He was recruited as part of Madrid’s efforts to assemble the best and brightest young talent in Spain, but while they have long-term plans for him, things are not going well in the short-term.

Assuming Arsenal don’t lose any midfielders during the January window, they wouldn’t be able to give Ceballos the game time he needs, I feel. Hence, they may not be too disappointed to lose him to Roma.
