Arsenal have been boosted by the news that Sevilla will allow Steven N’Zonzi to leave, so long as someone pays his release clause.

N’Zonzi could soon be on the move after being frozen out of the Sevilla squad in recent weeks.

The French midfielder had a falling out with Sevilla manager Eduardo Berizzo after their 3-3 draw with Liverpool in the Champions League.

Since then, he hasn’t been involved in any of Sevilla’s league or Champions League matches.

Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for him in January, and should be able to get him if they pay his £35mil release clause, according to Sevilla president Jose Castro.

“The coaches do not count on him and we have to respect their work. The games are won with and without N’Zonzi. They also said that it was not an irreversible situation. Let’s hope so,” he told Onda Cero via Tribal Football.

“Sell Steven N’Zonzi? He has two and a half years of contract and a clause of €40m. His clause is one of the highest in the club and we will not fight him.”

N’Zonzi was linked with Arsenal during the summer, and was thought to be in negotiations with them after he was spotted in London this month. However, the midfielder denied the claims and explained he was there to visit his son.

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla from Stoke City in 2015 and was a part of the team that won the Europa League in 2016. He caught the eye playing for Sevilla last season when Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli was in charge.

However, his form has been disappointing this season. N’Zonzi wanted to leave Sevilla in the summer, but couldn’t secure a move.
