Mesut Ozil has yet to agree a deal with Manchester United as he’s holding out for a move to Barcelona, according to latest reports.

Speculation about Ozil’s future has increased this season as his contract situation remains unresolved. While there have been several reports linking him with a move to Manchester United, Barcelona are also said to be interested.

Spanish publication Sport even go as far as reporting that Ozil will not commit to a move to United because he really wants a move to Barcelona.

Sport also report that Ozil has permission from Arsenal to leave in January, despite other suggestions that Arsenal have offered him a new contract.

The links with Manchester United stem from the fact that Ozil and Jose Mourinho used to work together at Real Madrid. With United reportedly on the lookout for a quality playmaker, the 29-year-old is the most convenient choice.

Barcelona’s interest has been more recent. The suggestion is that Ozil is their back-up choice in case they can’t sign Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. With any luck, there’ll be a resolution to this transfer saga some point soon, so everyone can move on.
