Aaron Ramsey and Shkodran Mustafi will not be fit for Arsenal’s trip to West Ham on Wednesday night.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that midfielder Aaron Ramsey has tweaked his hamstring and will be out for a “short period”.

Shkodran Mustafi, on the other hand, is still nursing the injury that forced him off after 15 minutes against Manchester United, and is a doubt for the weekend game against Newcastle as well.

Ramsey pulled his hamstring in the latter stages of the 1-1 draw with Southampton, although he did manage to see out the game. His injury could mean that Jack Wilshere will get a long-awaited start against West Ham on Wednesday.

It sounds like it could be the standard two or three weeks out for the Welshman, which would see him miss several games over the festive period.

The extent of Mustafi’s injury is unclear, but his continued absence may see Per Mertesacker keep his place in the defence.

Arsenal will take on a Hammers side who are coming off a hard-earned win over Chelsea. The game will be even tougher without two of our better performers from November.
