Copa90 presenter Poet, who sometimes works with Adidas, says he’s been told that Özil is leaving for United and there’s going to be a big Adidas campaign.

Poet was appearing on “The Kick Off”, a show hosted by YouTuber, True Geordie.

He got onto the subject of Mesut Özil, and said: “He’s leaving as well. I shouldn’t even say this but someone from Adidas told me he’s going to Man United, as part of some massive campaign.”

Last summer, we saw a similar campaign with Adidas, Manchester United and Paul Pogba.

The kit manufacturer built up the rumours of Pogba’s move, making videos with the midfielder acting like he was ignoring all the talk around him, only for him to then complete a world record transfer not long afterwards.

It’s very possible the rumours are entirely based on that event, and that the Adidas employee was just making up stories that would sound believable based on past experience.

However, there’s also a slight chance that it’s true.

Even if Özil hasn’t agreed anything with United, and even if he hasn’t talked to them, there’s still a possibility that the manufacturer could have already started their advertising campaign just in case.

For now, I wouldn’t be too worried.

Arsène Wenger said earlier this week that there had been no approach from Manchester United, so that makes a done deal between United and Özil illegal.

Not that Arsenal haven’t been hurt by that sort of thing in the past (thanks Ashley), but I’d hope that our relationship hasn’t deteriorated that badly with the German.
