Emmanuel Petit feels Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are playing for a move in January.
Both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have shown signs of returning to their best form in recent weeks, but even now, people are questioning their integrity.
Emmanuel Petit feels it’s a good thing that they’re performing well again, but has questioned if they’re just playing for a move in the winter window.
“It’s great news for Arsenal that they’ve returned to form, but is that just because the transfer window is around the corner?” he told Paddy Power, reports the Daily Mail.
“Who knows if they still want to leave? I really hope they remain at the club but, if they do, they need to show the same commitment to help Arsenal to a Champions League spot.”
With the pair out of contract in the summer, everything they do will be judged to have an ulterior motive.
If they don’t play well, it’s because they’re not committed, they don’t care and are just going through the motions.
If they play well, it’s because they’re just putting themselves in the shop window and appealing to potential buyers.
Whatever the case, Arsenal have been better off with the two of them playing like they care, in my opinion.
Ozil and Alexis were excellent in the win over Tottenham. The latter helped Arsenal get past Burnley, while the former put on a masterclass against Huddersfield.
Arsenal will need the two of them to perform well if they’re to get back into the top-four of the Premier League this season.
