Jason Mohamed informed Martin Keown during Saturday’s edition of BBC show, Final Score, that his son scored an own goal.

The pair were reporting on the afternoon’s football, when Jason interrupted Keown to give him the bad news. Partick Thistle were already 2-1 down at half-time, but the situation had just become even worse.

“Martin, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your lad is playing for Partick Thistle today,” Mohamed said.“He’s just scored an own goal against Kilmarnock.”

“Oh dear,” Martin responded. “Well thank you for that bad news. That hurts.”

Unfortunately, Niall Keown isn’t having the best time with Partick Thistle at the moment.

Although they’ve given the 22-year-old regular game time since his January loan, and subsequent permanent summer transfer, their performances on the pitch have been less than impressive.

The side sit bottom of the Scottish Premiership, with a four point gap to the closest team.

Nonetheless, it was still perhaps a little harsh to bring up the own goal live on TV, especially as it can’t be easy to be the son of a Premier League winner who played for Arsenal during one of the most successful periods of their history, putting all that pressure on you to try and live up to that.
