No Ozil no party: Arsenal player ratings v West Brom

Arsenal managed a 1-1 draw away against West Brom after a penalty, which shouldn’t have stood, was awarded to the Baggies late on.

Here’s how they all got on individually:

Defence

Petr Cech – 6

The 35-year-old didn’t look entirely confident whenever he did get the chance to make a save. He made two overall.

Calum Chambers – 6

Although the 22-year-old looked slightly more confident than he did against Crystal Palace, he still needs more game time in order to work on his fitness. It didn’t take long for the centre-back to get tired against the Baggies and he looked slow.

However, his passing was solid in the first half.

Laurent Koscielny – 6

The centre-back one again looked off the pace and a little clueless.

He did, however, complete 92% of his passes and win four aerial duels before his Achilles went.

Shkodran Mustafi – 6.5

The German was the best defender we had but that didn’t mean much. He also looked a bit lost – what are these guys even doing in training?

The defender also completed 92% of his passes.

Next up, midfield

Midfield

Sead Kolasinac – 6

The Bosnia international was sloppy and slow until he hurt his ankle and got subbed off after half an hour.

The wing-back only completed 17 passes during his time on the pitch and won one tackle.

Granit Xhaka – 6

The Switzerland international appeared to consistently slow down Arsenal’s attack.

He had two shots and was dispossessed once.

Jack Wilshere – 6

The 25-year-old wasn’t as sharp as he has been recently. Against Palace, he ran the show, but it was a different story at the Hawthorns.

He completed two dribbles and won two tackles.

Hector Bellerin – 6

The Spaniard was once again mostly anonymous or wasteful. He didn’t win any tackles and only made two clearances.

Next up, forwards

Forwards

Alexis Sanchez – 7

The Chilean was trying to influence play but without Mesut Ozil on the pitch, he struggled to find other players on his wavelength. Or, perhaps he just knew that Pep Guardiola wasn’t watching this time.

The forward had six shots – zero were on target.

Alex Iwobi – 6

The forward has the vision but his composure lets him down. He also tends to slow down attacks because he second-guesses every pass.

Alexandre Lacazette – 7

Laca is struggling to really get involved. It’s as if he doesn’t know where he’s meant to be playing or when he’s supposed to attack. He pulled off a couple of neat twists away from players though and had a couple of chances to score late on.

Next up, substitutes

Subs

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 7

The 20-year-old looks miles better than Kolasinac and far more secure at wing-back.

Per Mertesacker – 6

Danny Welbeck – 6
