Gary Neville has given his verdict on Alexis Sanchez, and believes he’s still a world class player, despite his poor form for Arsenal this season.

Alexis is playing what will surely be his last season for the club, but he hasn’t been at his best for a lot of the campaign. Despite this, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville feels he’s a world class player and a nuisance to play against.

“He is world class. He is genuinely world class. I mean, Pep Guardiola wants him at Man City,” he told Sky Sports. “At his very best, he is a nuisance to play against on the ball and off the ball. He is a good defender as well.

“He harasses players, he scores goals and he is good in the air for a small player.” Last season, Alexis was certainly playing at a world-class level.

He scored 30 goals in all competitions, including one in the FA Cup final, on top of several assists. This season, however, it’s been a completely different story.

Fans have grown frustrated with Alexis’ performances, which have seen him give the ball away more than any other player, and he’s failed to produce any real quality in a number of games.

Every now and then, he pops up with a goal or assist, but his form has been very patchy. Links to Manchester City have continued at full pace, even though it seems the Sky Blues don’t even need him at the moment.

It remains to be seen if he’ll move in January, or see out the remainder of his contract. If it’s to be the latter, his form will need to significantly improve.
