Manchester United want Mesut Ozil to solve their creativity problems, according to reports.

United manager Jose Mourinho is said to be frustrated with his attacking midfield options and is looking for a solution.

According to the Telegraph, that solution is Mesut Ozil.

United have been linked with Ozil throughout the season, with the relationship between him and Mourinho said to still be strong from their Real Madrid days.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was their first choice number ten, but his recent performances have been criticised by Mourinho.

Juan Mata is their other option, but he has barely played in the middle of the pitch.

As far as available attacking midfielders go, there are few better than Ozil.

Arsenal will not want to let him go in January, but have made little progress on extending his contract.

The chances of him leaving on a free transfer in the summer increase with every passing week.

Mourinho refused to rule out a move for the German when asked in his latest press conference but it’s hard to know if that’s because of genuine interest or simply because he’s a troll.

Mesut Ozil, meanwhile, is in a great run of form for Arsenal.

He managed a goal and two assists in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield.

He now has three goals and five assists this season.
