Manchester United are reportedly ready to lower Luke Shaw’s asking price from £27m to £20m.

In November, it was reported that Arsenal were monitoring Shaw’s situation at United and now it’s being claimed that the Red Devils have reduced his asking price to £20m.

The 22-year-old has seriously struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho and it appears that the Portuguese coach could be willing to offload him, even if that means he goes to a rival.

Although Arsenal are allegedly keeping an eye on the defender, Newcastle are the main club in the frame to sign him and it seems this is why United have supposedly knocked £7m off his transfer fee.

The Magpies are understandably said to be wary of paying such a high amount for a player who’s made just two League Cup appearances this season and 29 starts since he signed from Southampton in 2014.

Although the Gunners do need another full-back after selling Kieran Gibbs to West Brom in the summer, we have enough problems with injury-prone players as it is. England international or not, would adding another to the squad for £20m really be sensible?

I don’t think so. Nor do I think it will happen. We have to give Arsenal some credit, after all. Plus, there’s the fact that Jose Mourinho refuses to sell to Arsenal that also has to be considered.
