Manchester United will wait until the summer to sign Mesut Ozil as it would be cheaper, according to the Daily Star in an EXCLUSIVE.

It turns out that signing a player on a free transfer is cheaper than buying him in January. Who knew?

That’s what the Daily Star are exclusively revealing. They claim that Manchester United would rather pay the £8m Ozil’s representatives are demanding as the sign-on fee than pay Arsenal a large transfer fee.

This story is coming from the same paper who, at the start of the month, claimed United could sign him in January.

They also claimed in November that Arsenal would demand £30m for him in January, again citing United’s interest.

There’s a new story about Ozil and Manchester United every month, but as is often the case, none of them report on any progress.

Arsene Wenger has said that he has no intention of selling any players in January, let alone Ozil and also confirmed that United have not been in touch.

From a Manchester United perspective, it would be sensible to wait until the player is a free agent to sign him, if they are interested.

Ozil is in good form at the moment and is playing like a transfer is the last thing on his mind.
