Arsenal fans have been coming up with ways the right-wing media outlets can twist Mohamed Elneny’s harmless trolling of Alexis Sanchez into something more sinister and it’s pretty hilarious, if a little sad.

Over on Reddit, Gooners have been reacting to Elneny’s brutal trolling of Alexis on Twitter.

The Egypt international shared a picture of himself and a handful of his Arsenal teammates in a golf cart at London Colney.

The midfielder captioned it with, “Who will come with me (to) Russia?” and tagged a bunch of his teammates who have qualified for the World Cup next summer.

The 25-year-old then added, “Sorry my friend Sanchez. There is no place for you.”, and tagged the Chilean.

Chile, of course, didn’t qualify for the international tournament.

Since Elneny is Muslim, Arsenal fans immediately set to work trying to imagine what right-wing media outlets such as the Daily Mail and Sun would possibly set as their headlines.

“Daily Mail: ‘Wantaway superstar Sanchez bullied by Muslim immigrant teammate’,” said one Reddit user.

“The Sun: ‘Muslim immigrant teammate bullies wantaway superstar Alexis. Is this the end for Arsenal? Pep comes knocking’,” added another.

Some more of our favourites include:

  • The Mirror: Have Muslims in the UK gone too far?
  • Mail: Terror attack on Chilean by immigrant gang member
  • Express: Egyptian gangs take North London. Diana Diana Diana
  • Tomorrow’s L’Equipe: Arsenal swoop for Kalou

While the results are actually hilarious, it’s also sad how predictable the media can be when it comes to discrimination.

As it stands, none of the media outlets mentioned seem to have actually gone with any of the angles suggested by the Arsenal fans of Reddit.

Perhaps they’ve left their blatant xenophobia behind?

Not a chance.
