Udinese director Manuel Gerolin has spoken out to deny rumours that Jakub Jankto is set to leave the club in January.

Arsenal are one of the clubs who have been consistently linked with Jankto, after the Czech international admitted he doesn’t want to stay in Italy for the rest of his career.

The 21-year-old also revealed that he supported the Gunners as a child, as well as Juventus, so that further increases the chances that he could be open to a move.

However, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Gerolin said that Udinese don’t plan to let the player go in the winter window, saying: “Our objective is to improve as a team, all together.

“The transfer market is a consequence of our good work. I think Jankto will not be moving anywhere in January.”

Jankto has spent this season playing a mixture of matches out wide on the left and in the centre of midfield, and across 16 appearances he’s scored five goals and provided four assists.

That’s a step up from last campaign, when he got five goals and four assists in 30 appearances. Nonetheless, I can’t see the Udinese man being a prime target for Arsenal in January.

The Gunners have too many deficiencies to address and departing players to replace. After these latest comments, the Italian club are clearly looking for a high price, if they let him go at all.
