Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club haven’t received any offers for Arda Turan, but stresses that his future remains in his hands, amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Arda Turan to Arsenal is the rumour that just won’t die. It was bad enough when the Turkish midfielder was being linked in the summer as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, but now we have reports claiming Barcelona are going to offer him to Arsenal in exchange for the German.

Despite all the speculation about his future, though, Barcelona’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu maintains that Turan is still an important part of the team, and said there have been no offers for him from any club.

“Arda Turan is one of the important players of our team,” Bartomeu told Fanatik. “Obviously I want him to continue his sports career here, with us. Now he was inactive because of an injury, but he is already in better shape.

“We will see what happens when he is fully recovered and ready for his coach. We have not received any official offer from Galatasaray or any other club for Arda Turan. The future of Arda Turan is in his hands. It will be him who will ultimately decide his destiny.”

Turan was a bit-part player before the arrival of Ernesto Valverde, and has yet to make a single La Liga appearance this season due to back and foot injuries.

The 30-year-old will face a tough time getting back into the Barcelona team, especially one that’s topping La Liga currently. He’s not a bad player by any means, but he’s just not what Arsenal needs currently, in my opinion.

If Arsenal are after a replacement for Mesut Ozil, they will surely be looking for someone younger with his best years ahead of him.
