Barcelona are ready to let Arda Turan leave for free, as the Turkish international’s stock has plummeted in recent months. Arsenal remain a possible destination.

Bleacher Report relayed reports from Spanish publication Marca explaining that the Catalan club want Turan off the wage bill at this point, and would be willing to let him go for nothing.

The former Atletico Madrid man hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football for Barcelona this season. At first he was out through various injuries, but since returning to fitness the situation hasn’t change.

The 31-year-old’s agent recently revealed they were concerned over the situation, and he had therefore been in talks with several clubs over a January move.

With the likes of Mesut Özil, Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere all in the final year of their contracts the Gunners might have to look for replacements. If Arsenal can’t agree on new deals for their existing players, Turan might be something of a cheap stop-gap option.

Still, a player that hasn’t managed to prove his fitness and can’t get into the squad with Barcelona wouldn’t exactly be my first-choice target. If the rumours of talks with Arsenal have any basis, we’ll know soon enough if Arsène Wenger feels the same way.
