Arsenal have dominated West Ham in recent years but will it be different this time?
The Gunners face West Ham away on Wednesday night and, before this weekend, Arsene Wenger’s men would have been feeling quietly confident.
Not only are the Hammers down in the relegation zone, during the 67 times the two London teams have encountered each other, Arsenal have won 41. That’s 61%. West Ham have won just 13.
We’ve also scored 120 goals to their 58 and although Arsenal are known as the more attacking team, that still doesn’t bode well for David Moyes this week. Especially since the Scotsman has failed to beat Arsene Wenger 17/28 of the times they’ve come to blows; he’s only won four and three of those were when he was still in charge of Everton.
Away from home, Arsenal’s record against the Hammers is still pretty impressive. Out of 34 matches, the Gunners have clinched 20 and lost just five. They’ve also scored 63 goals.
The last time Arsenal traveled to the London Stadium, a lacklustre start quickly turned into a 5-1 victory for the visitors and Alexis Sanchez scored a stunning hat-trick, so hopefully we’ll put on a similar performance this time.
However, West Ham will be full of confidence after beating Chelsea 1-0 at the weekend, while we narrowly drew 1-1 away to Southampton. It could be close.
