Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are battling for Hoffenheim midfielder Nadiem Amiri, and could pay £20m to procure his signature.

The Express write that all three clubs are interested in a £20m deal for the German u21 international, following his standout performances for his club this campaign. The 21-year-old has four goals and two assists in 18 appearances in all competitions this season.

According to the report, Jack Wilshere’s potential departure, as well as the uncertain futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil, could leave an opening for Amiri to fill with the Gunners, hence Arsenal’s apparent interest.

As well as the good performances for his club, Amiri also has three goals and three assists in his 15 youth appearances for Germany since March last year, the highlight of which was a goal in his country’s successful u21 European Championship campaign.

All that would certainly help put the player on the map, although I’d argue that Arsenal have bigger problems at the moment. Although Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil could be on the way out, I think a dedicated wide-forward would be a better replacement.

Also, if the Gunners are letting go such experienced first-team players, I’m not sure a youngster from Hoffenheim is really a like-for-like swap. But we’ll see.
