Arsenal could reportedly be eyeing up Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas as a potential replacement for Petr Cech.

After making just seven La Liga starts for Real Madrid so far this season, Navas’ position with the Spanish giants appears to be under threat and Arsenal are reportedly lying in wait just in case the 30-year-old finds himself looking for a new club.

The Costa Rica international, who Transfermarkt value at £16m, has been at Real for three years but struggled to truly cement himself as their #1. Now, with Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, allegedly set to sign for Los Blancos in January, it’s looking even less likely that Navas will be staying.

This could also be bad news for Manchester United, as Navas moving to Arsenal could mean that, if Real don’t get Kepa, they’ll go after David de Gea.

The Gunners apparently want Navas, whose contract runs out in 2020, to replace Cech, who only has 18 months left on his current deal in north London and is 35 years old.

However, would the former Levante shot-stopper be good enough?

In 15 appearances across all competitions this term, he’s kept just five clean sheets. And they’ve been against the likes of Espanyol and APOEL Nicosia. In fact, Real have struggled this season and are currently in fourth place in the La Liga table.

Regardless, it does appear that Arsenal are at least in the market for a goalkeeper.
