Arsenal reportedly face competition in their apparent pursuit of Nice midfielder, Jean Michael Seri.

Seri is allegedly being chased by Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona with the January transfer window just around the corner.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to the Premier League during the summer and his current club Nice even supposedly knocked back a £35.2m bid from Barca as well.

However, several European teams are reportedly set to swoop again next month.

The midfielder has 18 months left on his current deal with Nice and it’s not looking as if he’s going to put pen to paper on a new contract seeing as he publicly admitted that he wanted to move back in August.

This season, Seri’s made 17 appearances over all competitions, scoring just the once and assisting four goals. However, for a player Nice were so desperate to keep, the Ivory Coast international has really struggled for starts, only making nine so far in Ligue 1.

I imagine Arsenal’s transfer activity in January depends heavily on whether Mesut Ozil signs a new deal, as is currently being reported, or not. We also have to see whether any offers for Alexis Sanchez are worth offloading him mid-way through the season.

Until then, our link with Seri is just speculation.
