Arsenal are in a race with Chelsea for Bayer Leverkusen’s highly-rated Leon Bailey, and could make an approach in January to procure his signature.

Bailey only joined Leverkusen in January, but his impressive form has led to rumours that he could be set for an early exit. The Mirror write that the Gunners and Chelsea are both interested in a £15m deal, while clubs in Italy and Spain are also on his case.

The 20-year-old winger has scored five goals and provided five assists in 14 matches. Bailey hasn’t yet appeared for the Jamaican senior side, but he has played for the u23s, scoring on his debut.

It’s an impressive rise so far for the youngster, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal really are interested. At the moment, the Gunners need to deal with the situation surrounding Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Özil, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck – all of whom have uncertainty around their futures.

Hopefully we’ll know more when the transfer window opens in January. It’s hard to see Arsenal shopping for more attacking recruits unless they’ll be letting a number of players leave next month or next summer.
