Arsene Wenger wants to know where Arsenal stand with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez by the end of December.

Talks with the pair have ground to a halt, with hopes of a breakthrough dwindling by the month. With both out of contract in the summer, they’ll be free to talk with clubs from abroad in January and agree a deal for the summer.

According to the Evening Standard, Wenger has set a deadline for the end of December for progress to be made. If not, he may consider selling them in January.

“No decision has been made on that front,” the Wenger told beIN Sports. “Do we let anyone go in January? We’ll have to think about that to see where we stand with them at the end of December.”

Arsenal opted not to sell the pair during the summer, perhaps in hope that they would be able to convince them to extend during the season. However, Alexis looks certain to leave after he was denied a deadline day move to Manchester City.

Ozil’s situation is tougher to read, as while he’s talking up staying and loving life in London, he has been frequently linked with a move to Manchester United. December could be a pivotal month in the future of several players.

Arsenal also plan to start contract talks with Jack Wilshere during that month. At this rate, the midfielder could be a potential replacement for one of Alexis or Ozil. Letting all three go for nothing would be far from ideal.
