Arsene Wenger insists that he won’t be resting players ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Manchester United at the weekend.

Arsenal face Huddersfield on Wednesday just days before they host Jose Mourinho’s United side, who currently sit second in the Premier League. However, Wenger claims he has ‘zero eyes’ on the weekend match. The only game he cares about right now, is the one against Huddersfield.

“[I will have] zero eyes [on the Manchester United game],” Wenger said during his presser on Tuesday morning.
“The most important game is tomorrow night, no matter what happens after.
“We have a good chance to take three points at home tomorrow and that is the only thing that matters. I have a big enough squad to deal with the rest after this game.”

Mesut Ozil is set to face a last-minute assessment ahead of the run-in with Huddersfield. The playmaker missed the clash against Burnley on Sunday after being ruled out through illness and therefore might not be quite ready to feature mid-week. Even though he’s back in training this week.

Of course, Wenger could deliberately keep the German out in order to have him fresh for the weekend and claim that the 29-year-old just ‘isn’t match ready’.

Not that he would ever admit as much. The official line is that on Wednesday, Wenger will put out the strongest starting XI possible. Whether that includes Ozil or not remains to be seen.

Alex Iwobi has also been ruled out with a ‘dead leg’ but will presumably be fine for the United game, leading many to speculate that Jack Wilshere could be set to make his first Premier League start of the season against Huddersfield.
