Arsene Wenger insists that he will fight for Jack Wilshere to stay at Arsenal if he believes it’s in the 25-year-old’s best interests to stay at the club.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s midweek clash against Huddersfield at the Emirates, Wenger revealed that he will fight ‘100%’ for Jack to stay in north London if he believes it to be in the midfielder’s best interest.

“If I think his best interest is to stay here I will absolutely fight 100% for him to stay here. He’s top quality,” said the boss during his presser.

Like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Jack has just over six months on his existing deal with the Gunners. However, unlike the other two stars, it appears that Jack actually wants to stay at Arsenal. He’s been at the club since he was nine and he recently revealed that he wants to become a legend here.

However, the issue is Jack’s fitness. He’s yet to make a Premier League start this season and although this could be down to Wenger wanting to protect him after he recovered from a second hairline fracture to his fibula just three months ago, it’s also possible that the boss doesn’t see him as good enough to get into the first team yet.

If Jack’s not getting regular first team football by December, which is when Wenger claims his future will be sorted, then I don’t see him staying at the club.
