Alexis Sanchez is feeling the pressure of wanting to leave the club, according to Emmanuel Eboue.

The Chilean came close to leaving the club during the summer transfer window, but Arsenal prevented any deal from happening. Since then, he’s been far from his scintillating best, scoring just two goals this season.

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue believes that’s down to him feeling the pressure of his failed move. “This year is hard. It’s hard for him because he wants to move, Arsenal kept him so he has a lot of pressure in his head,” he told DAZN via Goal.

“Sanchez is a great player. Arsenal have to keep him, Ozil and Sanchez. Anything can happen in football.”

Although wanting Alexis and Ozil to stay at Arsenal, Eboue doesn’t believe that any individual should be bigger than the team. “At Arsenal, they don’t have the two best players. All of them are the best. In the team we don’t have the same talent, everybody has their job to do on the pitch.

“Ozil’s job is to make assists, the last pass, score goals, sometimes he can shoot, sometimes he can score. Sanchez also passes but more goals. In his first year he scored a lot of goals.”

With neither Ozil or Alexis anywhere near their best this season, Arsenal need the other members of the team to step-up in a big way. So far this season, though, it doesn’t seem like anyone is about to do that.

We’re perhaps getting a taste of what life without Alexis’ goals and Ozil’s assists could be like. Eboue had left Arsenal well before Ozil and Alexis arrived. Having made 214 appearances for the club, he was sold to Galatasaray in 2011.

He spent five years in Turkey before making a move to Sunderland. However, he never played for the club due to being suspended for a year after failing to pay an agent. He currently plays for Türk Ocağı Limasol.
