Shkodran Mustafi has been in fantastic form lately and this statistic shows that he could actually be one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

Arsenal have only conceded two goals during the last 10 games Mustafi has featured in, which is unbelievable.

The centre-back returned from summer ready to perform, despite reports claiming that he wanted a move away from north London after failing to settle into the squad. And boy are Gooners glad.

Mustafi was brilliant in the North London Derby last weekend, scoring a goal and making a vital interception to deny Harry Kane in the second half.

The 25-year-old also put in a Man of the Match-winning performance against Burnley during the Gunners’ narrow 1-0 victory on Sunday. According to WhoScored, he won nine aerial duels and 14 defensive duels in total – more than any other player on the pitch. The German also made five clearances, won three tackles and two interceptions.

The 40 days Mustafi spent sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Germany perhaps pushed a reset button because, since his return, he’s been on another level.

Hopefully, he doesn’t decide to try and (allegedly) run off again next summer…

When Laurent Koscielny, Mustafi and Nacho Monreal have started together, they’re yet to concede a single goal.
