Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is reportedly being targeted by Real Madrid, as the European Champions struggle to keep up in La Liga this season.

Barcelona and Valencia have already opened up a significant gap above Real in the table, and have both scored at least 10 goals more than Los Blancos.

Madrid appear to be suffering from the sale of Alvaro Morata, combined with Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal droughts – both players have one league goal this season.

Alexis could provide an answer, and Don Balon write that he would be available for £30m in January. Sanchez finally showed something of his former self in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Tottenham, bagging a goal and being a threat throughout.

Of course, Real could just sign a pre-contract agreement with the 29-year-old and pick him up for free in the summer. But with the way their season is going, they need something to placate the fans.

With Gareth Bale injured as well, signing someone like the Chilean becomes an even more urgent matter. If Sanchez continues to play like he did against Tottenham, the decision becomes very difficult for Arsenal to make.

If he reverts to how he was playing before that game, then I think most fans would happily see him shipped off to Madrid and replaced.
