The league doesn’t lie. Spurs are better than Arsenal, says Ray Parlour.

Parlour, who made over 400 appearances for the club, believes that Tottenham are currently better than Arsenal, even if he doesn’t want to admit it.

“It does hurt, I must admit,” he told AskFans. “I have lots of people ask me ‘Who is the best side, Tottenham or Arsenal?’ and I have to say the league doesn’t lie.

“Tottenham came above Arsenal last season so they are better – simple. It does hurt as it’s been a long time since that happened. It had to turn around sooner or later, that’s law of averages from Spurs point of view.”

Last season was the first time Spurs finished above Arsenal in the table since 1993. They did it comfortably, too. Spurs finished a rather embarrassing 11 points above Arsenal in the table as they put the pressure on Chelsea.

Of course, while this is an accomplishment for Spurs, they didn’t actually win anything, while Arsenal won the FA Cup for the third time in four years.

Spurs sit above Arsenal in the current Premier League table as well, although only four points separate the sides currently. The duo meet in the North London derby on Saturday.

Arsenal are looking to bounce back from the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City and close the gap on their rivals for a top-four spot.

Spurs, meanwhile, are hoping to continue their good form and get closer to Manchester City, who appear to be running away with the league title already. Arsenal will be keen to get a long overdue win in a North London derby in the Premier League.
