Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is taking a while to settle in at Liverpool.

The winger, full-back and occasional midfielder made the switch to Liverpool on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Since then, he’s hardly been the regular first team starter that he wanted to be, nor has he nailed down a position.

Still, it takes time for players to settle in their new surroundings and adapt to a new style of play.

Liverpool certainly do things different to Arsenal. For Chamberlain, the intensity of their play is the biggest difference from his time in London.

“It takes time to settle in anywhere & learn the new style of play, we play a very intense game that takes time,” he said, as reported by the Metro.

“I’m getting there and it’s important every time I get opportunities to show what I can do and that’s scoring goals.”

It’s true that Liverpool look to play at a higher tempo and work harder out of possession than we do. Doing that on a regular basis would be a big change for anyone.

After a difficult start, Chamberlain has scored his first goals for the club: the sixth goal in a 7-0 thrashing of Maribor in the Champions League, and the third goal in a 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.

Since his departure, Arsenal’s form has improved, and they’ve enjoyed being able to play a settled team without trying to shoehorn him into the starting line-up.

The split was good for all involved, it seems.
