Reiss Nelson has identified the Arsenal players have helped him settle into first team life.

The 17-year-old is receiving plenty of game time in the Carabao Cup and Europa League this season.

He didn’t expect to be called up for first team action so soon, but has adapted well to his new surroundings thanks to the likes of Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil.

“It was different coming from Hale End to London Colney. The coaching is so much different and the environment – you’ve got loads of first team players and world class players there,” he told Arsenal.com.

“Alex Iwobi has really helped me. He’s always making jokes and seeing I’m okay. Lacazette as well is a nice guy.

“Ozil, Hector as well – those are the boys, all the boys really, that have taken me in as a person and a footballer as well.”

Iwobi, who recently came up from Arsenal’s youth system himself, has been cited numerous time as a positive influence on young players.

Bellerin, as well, knows what it’s like to come from the youth teams into the first team set-up at a young age.

Normally a winger, Nelson was in excellent for the u23 side last season and earned himself a call-up to the pre-season squad that toured Australia and China.

He filled in at right wing-back, and did enough to become a part of the first team.

Despite being an attacker, Nelson has impressed with how well he’s adapted to playing as a right wing-back.

His discipline and defensive awareness have been good for someone used to having a lot of freedom in attacking areas.

It’s likely that he’ll start the remainder of Arsenal’s Europa League games, as well as the Carabao Cup quarter-final against West Ham.
