Clinton Morrison thinks Wilfried Zaha would only improve under a manager like Arsène Wenger.

In the last week, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Zaha, who would reportedly be worth around £35m.

Although the Daily Star deny that the winger is on Wenger’s shortlist at the moment, they also report quotes from Clinton Morrison that it would be a good move for the player if Crystal Palace’s fortunes don’t improve.

“It will be disappointing if Palace lose him but if they get relegated, Wilfried Zaha is a Premier League player,” Morrison conceded. “Over the last year and a half, how his game has come on to a different level is unreal.”

“He could probably add more goals to his game and I think going to work under someone like Arsene Wenger – he’d only become better. But I hope he doesn’t leave. I hope Palace stay up and they can build the team around him.”

Zaha has two goals in five appearances for Palace this season, winning them three of their four Premier League points. Without him in the side, the Eagles lost six league games in a row without a goal, and were eliminated from the League Cup in a 4-1 defeat to Bristol City.

Certainly in my experience, Palace fans love him, and would hate to lose Zaha to anybody. He’s probably the only player they feel that strongly about right now, considering their awful situation.

Of course, none of that means that he’s right for Arsenal, but you’d have to say he’s looking more effective than Theo Walcott at the moment. Also, Morrison is probably right to say that he could improve under Wenger at Arsenal.

If Palace’s fortunes change then I’d expect Wilfried to stay at Selhurst Park, but if they don’t and Walcott leaves North London, Zaha could make a good replacement, in my opinion.
