Nacho Monreal has been voted PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month.

The Spaniard has had his good performances through October recognised by the fans.

It was one of his best months in an Arsenal shirt, as he helped the team to wins over Brighton, Everton and Swansea. Monreal scored Arsenal’s first goals in both the 2-0 win over Brighton and the 5-2 win over Everton.

Having successfully made the transition from left-back to centre-back, the 31-year-old has been Arsenal’s best performer this season. He’s featured in every Premier League game so far and has hardly put a foot out of place.

The recent penalty he conceded against Manchester City was a minor blip on his season. Despite his good form, he may find himself a little fortunate to win the award, as Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne was in excellent form last month as well.

In fact, you could argue that most of the City team deserved to win the award. Nonetheless, you can’t underestimate the voting power of the Arsenal fans, who always turn out in numbers when one of their own is involved.

Amongst the Arsenal players at least, there are few more deserving than Monreal.
