Just three of Arsenal’s nine loanees were involved over the weekend, as many continue to struggle with game-time or injuries. None of them were on the winning side either.

Joel Campbell is the latest to pick up an injury, just a few weeks after returning from his last one.  According to the Real Betis website, he has a bimalleolar sprain with a bone bruise in the left ankle, and therefore missed the visit of Getafe on Friday.

Also missing out on that clash between Betis and Getafe was Emi Martinez, although he did make the bench. The game ended 2-2.

Lucas Perez and Takuma Asano played the full 90 minutes as Deportivo La Coruna and Stuttgart lost to Atletico Madrid and Hamburg, 1-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Meanwhile, Kelechi Nwakali played 59 minutes of a 0-0 draw between VVV-Venlo and NAC Breda, in his second league start of the season.

Marc Bola was an unused substitute as Bristol Rovers lost to Notts County 4-2 in the first round of the FA Cup. Stephy Mavididi didn’t get a chance to affect his game either, after being benched for Preston’s 3-0 loss to Ipswich.

Finally, there’s been no change in the situation at Birmingham, with Cohen Bramall continuing to be ignored in the selection process and Carl Jenkinson yet to return from injury.

The Blues lost 2-0 to Barnsley, which makes this one of the first weekends where every loan club has played but not a single one pulled off a win.

Hopefully that’ll encourage some of them to give the Arsenal loan players a chance.
