Inter Milan have reportedly joined Arsenal and Besiktas in the chase for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Earlier this week, rumours emerged that Arsenal were interested in bringing the Belgian to North London on a free transfer at the end of the season. However, Inter and Besiktas are now also apparently trying to lure the United man away, according to the Express.

Fellaini will turn 30 on November 22, and has never been the best player technically, so he certainly doesn’t fit the profile I’d expect Arsenal to be chasing. However, the only redeeming quality of the story is the fact that Marouane would be available on a free.

Whilst I still have very strong doubts that Wenger would be interested, a 6’4″ midfielder could give the Gunners some physical presence from the bench when required, without the club having to spend anything on a transfer fee. Fellaini has also been much improved in the last year, although that wasn’t exactly a difficult thing to achieve.

Given Mourinho’s reluctance to ever let a player go to a rival, I’d expect him to try and force the issue with Fellaini to go elsewhere. So if Inter or Besiktas are interested, I think we’ll see some developments in January.
