Thierry Henry has unsurprisingly made UEFA’s Team of the Century.
UEFA’s Team of the Year award was launched in 2001 – the turn of the century.
With this in mind, the Daily Star have published the players who have appeared in the Team of the Year the most times over the past 16 years to create a ‘Team of the Century’.
Thierry Henry is the only Arsenal player to feature after being voted into the UEFA Team of the Year five times because of his performances for not only the Gunners but the France national team.
This is despite being in a starting XI with the likes of Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.
In goal, we have Iker Casillas, who was one of the best shot-stoppers in the world while he was at Real Madrid and Spain.
The back four then consists of Philipp Lahm, who played for Bayern Munich his entire career; Gerard Piqué (Barcelona); Carles Puyol (formerly of Barcelona) and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid).
In midfield, Liverpool hero, Steven Gerrard, gets a look-in but the Catalans understandably continue to dominate with Andrés Iniesta and Xavi playing centrally behind a three-man attack.
The front three is a mouth-watering trio of Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Henry and Messi (Barcelona), which no one can really argue against.
