Hamburger SV manager, Markus Gisdol, claims that Chelsea haven’t beaten Arsenal to the signing of Jann-Fiete Arp.

Contrary to reports, Gisdol insists that Chelsea haven’t secured the signing of Arp, who the Gunners and Manchester City have also been linked with recently.

“Some write adventurous things,” Gisdol told Bild. “It’s almost ridiculous sometimes.”

The 17-year-old, who was said to be on his way to Stamford Bridge, has been at Hamburg for seven years, since the age of 10. However, considering he’s so young, he’s only just managed to break into the first team, scoring twice in five Bundesliga appearances this season.

Even more impressively, Arp has been capped 19 times for Germany’s u17s, scored 18 and provided eight assists. In fact, it was during this summer’s u17 World Cup where the teenager really made his mark, netting five goals in six clashes and captaining his side to three victories.

Therefore, it’s of little wonder why Arsenal, as well as Chelsea and Manchester City, are being linked, even if the interest isn’t 100% genuine. Arp is obviously a talented kid with a big future.

What’s more, he has under a year-and-a-half left on his current deal with Hamburg. The Bundesliga club therefore want to try everything to get him to stay.

“He will stay with us,” said Hamburg president Heribert Bruchhagen recently. “His advisor Jürgen Milewski has promised me and sporting director Jens Todt. He will develop with us.”
