Rio Ferdinand thinks Arsenal will follow up their impressive win over Tottenham Hotspur with a loss against Burnley.

Arsenal fans are understandably feeling pretty pleased with themselves at the moment, having watched their side dominate their London rivals on Saturday. However, Ferdinand is out to burst their bubble.

“I’ll back Burnley to win [Sunday’s] game. They’re in good form, it’s a hard place to go and you don’t know what you’re going to get out of Arsenal,” he told BT Sport, reports the Evening Standard.

“This isn’t about Mesut Ozil, this is about the Arsenal team. The way they played today to a man. The pressing, the intensity of their game today.

“But you watch them play 10 games you might get that three or four times and the other five or six it’s not the same. At the top of the game when the margins are so small you can’t afford to take your foot off the gas.”

It certainly doesn’t sound beyond Arsenal to go and lose against a side like Burnley after beating Tottenham.

Aside from anything else, the Clarets are actually playing almost as well as the top sides at the moment. They’re level with the Gunners on 22 points in the table, and only a few goals behind on goal difference.

So the gap between Arsenal and Burnley is just a few goals, whilst the gap to the next closest team is four points. Even if the Gunners do win on Sunday, Burnley will still stay in the top-seven.

Arsène Wenger’s men also have the disadvantage of playing against FC Köln on Thursday. Although the side will likely be heavily rotated, as it has been in most European matches this season, there may still be a couple of players who have to play both games.

The travel to Germany is further than any trips the Burnley players will have to make this week. It’ll be a big test for the Gunners, but hopefully they can prove Ferdinand wrong and come through it with a win.
