The Arsenal fans weren’t impressed with Granit Xhaka’s performance against Northern Ireland.

The midfielder helped his country qualify for the World Cup this summer by seeing off Northern Ireland in a play-off. Switzerland had a 1-0 advantage going into the home leg, where the held Northern Ireland to a 0-0 draw.

Despite their success, the watching Arsenal fans were not too impressed with Xhaka’s performance, reports Football Insider.

The match was a very open one, and may have exposed some of Xhaka’s deficiencies as a midfielder. Nonetheless, his side created several chances to kill off the tie, but extremely poor finishing kept Northern Ireland in it.

With so much at stake and the game not under their control, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Xhaka and Switzerland may have resorted to cynical tactics.

The midfielder is now the latest Arsenal player to confirm his involvement in the World Cup this summer. Before then, he’ll return to London and hopefully help us find some form.

His own form this season hasn’t been great, but Saturday would be an excellent time to show some improvement.

Arsenal play Tottenham in the North London derby and will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Manchester City.
