Alexis Sanchez made the mistake of hugging an old teammate after the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

There are lots of reasons to be upset with Alexis Sanchez at the moment. The fact he doesn’t want to be at the club and could leave for nothing is one of them.

His performance on Sunday and the amount of times he gave the ball away is another one. Greeting an old teammate and friend after the match, though? That might be stretching it a little too far.

The Mirror tried to spin a story out of it, claiming that fans were upset that Alexis publicly showed how close he is to people at Manchester City.

Never mind that it’s just a coincidence Mikel Arteta is currently working as a coach at City, and Alexis was just greeting someone he played with for two years.

Things like this happen after every game. They happen before the game, too. Seeing former teammates or international teammates greeting each other in the tunnel is a very common sight.

Their selection of tweets are hardly the most convincing, either.

There’s an understandable amount of bitterness and cynicism when it comes to Alexis, but fans would be wise not to read into every little action.
