Luis Enrique is waiting until the end of the season to return to management, with Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly interested.

Spanish publication Sport via Tribal Football write that the former Barcelona manager is giving himself a year to recharge and study the game to try and find the right job for him. Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly made contact, with a move to the Premier League the Spaniard’s preference.

Enrique had a great deal of success with Barcelona in terms of trophies, winning La Liga twice, the Copa del Rey three times, as well as the Supercopa de España, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, all in the space of three years.

However, thanks to the massive expectations at the Catalan club and the quality of so many individuals in the Barcelona line up, many fans still weren’t content. There was always an accusation that Messi’s brilliance was bailing Enrique out, despite the 47-year-old’s La Liga Coach of the Year and FIFA World Coach of the Year awards in 2015.

Whether Enrique would be as successful at a club like Arsenal, without a Messi to fall back on, remains to be seen. For now, it seems the possibility of bringing the manager in will wait until at least next summer.
