Jack Wilshere is reportedly about to get an England call-up after numerous players drop out through injury.

Several players have dropped out of England’s friendly matches against Germany and Brazil, which means that Wilshere could get his first call-up since Euro 2016.

With Harry Winks being ruled out after suffering an ankle injury during Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, as well as the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph, Jordan Henderson and Dele Alli all ‘sidelined’, it could be down to Wilshere to fill a slot.

The 25-year-old will probably be chuffed just because he wants to get back into the international fold after being away for so long.

However, the matches themselves obviously don’t mean anything and most Gooners are probably already bracing themselves to lose their midfielder to injury for the umpteenth time.

Wilshere has now made eight appearances for the Gunners, only two of which have been in the Premier League, which is why Gareth Southgate didn’t include him in the line-up in the first place. Once the Englishman had been fit for a certain amount of time, he would get a call-up.

All we can hope is that if Wilshere is played against Germany and Brazil, he comes back unscathed. He’s been through enough when it comes to injuries, we don’t need to lose him during a friendly he wasn’t even supposed to be involved in.
