Eric Dier thinks Christian Eriksen can help Tottenham to a win over Arsenal in the North London derby at the weekend.

Eriksen scored a hat-trick against a poor Ireland side in midweek, getting Spurs fans excited about the prospect of something similar against Arsenal.

Eric Dier seems pleased with how well Eriksen is doing, telling the Daily Star: “It’s great for Tottenham he’s continuing to excel. We’re seeing the best Christian Eriksen we’ve ever seen at the moment.

“Hopefully he can keep going. The mentality going into the derby is to win – simple really. Christian’s quite a relaxed guy, so I don’t think it’ll affect him too much. He’s obviously coming very high on confidence now.”

Hopefully the Arsenal players won’t be gifting Eriksen chances like Ireland were. At one stage, they literally passed it to him for a free shot in the box. But then, with the way the Gunners have been defending at times this season, it wouldn’t be entirely unexpected.

Wenger has players in his side who should be just as confident going into Saturday’s match, as Alexandre Lacazette scored a brace against Germany, Alex Iwobi scored two against Argentina and Mesut Özil provided an assist against France.

Players are returning from injury, and those who didn’t go away with their countries, like Jack Wilshere or Alexis Sanchez, should be raring to go after a rest. It doesn’t matter if Christian Eriksen is in form, it’s up to Arsenal to take the game to Spurs regardless.
