England’s youth teams have been very successful in 2017, but how many of their players come from Arsenal, compared to other clubs?

The Express ranked all the clubs who contributed at least one player to the England youth setup, so here’s the full list by number of players:

15 players – Chelsea.

8 players – Everton.

5 players – Manchester City, Spurs and Arsenal.

4 players – Southampton, Liverpool and Fulham.

3 players – Leicester, Newcastle, Reading and Wolves.

2 players – Watford, Middlesbrough, Manchester United, Bournemouth, Aston Villa.

1 player – West Ham, Swansea City, Stoke City, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town, Fleetwood Town, Derby County, Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic and Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal are joint-third on the list, but are way behind Chelsea, and even a significant amount behind Everton.

Chelsea have a bit of a monopoly on youth players, who tend to be loaned out and then sold without being given a chance in the first team (in my experience anyway).

Arsenal have been disadvantaged a little by the fact that they’re actually giving players a chance in the first team. The Express have used the u17 World Cup, as well as the u20 World Cup, the u19 European Championship and the u21 European Championship for their data.

However, Reiss Nelson didn’t attend the u17 World Cup because he was playing in the League Cup and Europa League, Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock didn’t play in the summer tournaments, but they went on a pre-season tour.

In the end, England will benefit from players playing for the senior sides, not winning youth tournaments (although that’s obviously fantastic too, don’t get me wrong).

Chelsea made have provided the most players to help win those tournaments, but when they aren’t starting a single English player in the league, like last weekend, I can’t say I’d give that statistic much weight.
