Hector Bellerín thinks the win over Spurs will shut some people up and might change a few opinions of the Arsenal team.

Regardless of Pochettino’s complaints about the refereeing decisions, Arsenal were completely dominant over their North London rivals at the weekend. Before and after the goals. the Gunners looked like the better side, to me.

Bellerin thinks things are starting to get going now, despite the setback against Manchester City. He told the club website: “After a tough start, we were building up really well with good results.

“There’s always a lot of talk but I think it was one of those games where we showed what we could do. We shut some mouth as well. There are people who talk a lot and now, after watching that game at home, they’ll be thinking that these guys have a chance.

“You have to talk on the pitch, not in the media. That’s how we do it. Of course [that’s the standard we have to hit every week]. That’s what we’re trying to do.

“Sometimes, for different reasons, we haven’t been able to do it, but this is how we set the bar and show what potential we have. That’s what we’ve got to work hard to do every single week, week in, week out.”

Certainly at home, the Gunners haven’t had any trouble this season. Other than a 0-0 draw against Red Star Belgrade – which wasn’t the worst result given Arsenal were already top of the Europa League group by a large margin – Wenger’s side have won every single game in all competitions.

But on the road in the league, Arsenal have only beaten Everton, and even that was after going behind. So far they’ve been consistently good in their own backyard, and consistently disappointing away.

Nonetheless, beating Spurs did answer the critics that claimed the Gunners couldn’t win any of the big games at all. Fortunately, the next trip to a big-six rival isn’t until February, so there are plenty of away games to get a run going before then.

In the meantime, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea will all come to visit the Emirates, so Bellerin and the group will need to prove Saturday wasn’t just a one-off.
