Barcelona are reportedly yet to make any sort of approach for Mesut Ozil.
Barca have been linked with a move for Ozil when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
While they allegedly still want Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho more, the Merseyside club are playing hardball and, if it comes down to it, the La Liga giants apparently see Ozil as a decent second option.
The 29-year-old could even open negotiations with his former rivals in January, if he wants.
However, Barca reportedly haven’t made an approach for the German yet.
Arsene Wenger claims a decision over Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez’s future will be made once and for all in December. Ozil and Alexis appear to have decided not to renew their existing deals with the Gunners and could therefore either leave in January for a cut-price or at the end of the season for free.
If Barcelona really are going to try and sign Ozil, it’s hardly surprising that they haven’t made a move yet. The transfer window is still two months away and I imagine they’re likely to give Coutinho another shot first, even if it will set them back around £114m.
