Barcelona are reportedly willing to offer Arsenal Andre Gomes plus cash in exchange for Mesut Ozil.

The Catalan giants are said to be so desperate to land Ozil, who runs out of contract with Arsenal at the end of the season, that they’re willing to give the Gunners Gomes as part of the deal. That’s according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, anyway.

This is just the latest twist in the Ozil-to-Barca saga. Firstly, the Spanish club reportedly wanted the German but only if they couldn’t sign their preferred midfielder, Philippe Coutinho, from Liverpool. The 25-year-old would apparently set Barca back up to £130m – far less than the £20m they could sign Ozil for in January.

It was then reported that Barca – surprise, surprise – had not made any sort of contact with Arsenal over signing Ozil at all.

And now they’re desperate to sign the 29-year-old and would happily take him over the super-expensive Coutinho. In fact, they’re willing to chuck in Gomes as a sweetener!

Barcelona only signed the 24-year-old from Valencia last year for a reported €35m plus €20m in add-ons. So it seems unlikely that they would part with the Portugal international so quickly, even if he has only had the chance to make two La Liga starts this season due to a hamstring injury.
