Arsenal are helping out Bolton by speeding up their payments for Rob Holding, according to reports.

The 22-year-old centre-back joined Arsenal last summer in a deal worth £2.5m. The deal, according to The Sun via Lion of Vienna Suite, included a number of extras and instalments that Arsenal are paying sooner than planned.

The report doesn’t state if this has been requested of Arsenal by Bolton, or if it’s just a sign of good will. Nonetheless, the money could prove useful to Bolton, who are struggling in the Championship.

They currently sit in 23rd place with just two wins from 16 games, and face the real threat of going straight back down to League One.

Holding, a product of Bolton’s academy, was voted their Player of the Season the year they were relegated. He’s been in and out of Arsenal’s Premier League eleven this season, but has featured regularly during the Europa League and the Carabao Cup.

His form towards the end of last season helped Arsenal reach the FA Cup final. Given how he’s settled into Arsenal, Bolton could be wondering how they didn’t get more money for him.
