Arsenal were one of three clubs to send scouts to watch Aston Villa’s u23s beat Newcastle 6-0.

Villa and Newcastle compete in the second tier of the Premier League 2, so Arsenal don’t get the chance to face them personally, and therefore scouting is the only way to spot any up-and-coming talent.

According to the Birmingham Mail, that’s exactly what the Gunners are doing, as they joined Everton and Southampton in watching the match on Monday.

19-year-old Callum O’Hare was particularly impressive on the day, scoring three goals, and will probably have put himself on the radar of those watching as a result.

The young midfielder has now scored five goals in six matches for the u23s this season.

He’s also been given some chances in the Aston Villa first-team, making two brief appearances in the Championship and three starts in the League Cup before Villa were knocked out.

Arsenal already have a good crop of youngsters coming through at the moment, as evidenced by the fact that Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Josh Dasilva, Ben Sheaf, Marcus McGuane, Matt Macey and Joe Willock have all made appearances for the first-team.

But if O’Hare continues to impress then perhaps we could see him added to the ranks as well.
