Arsenal’s interest in Jorginho has been resurrected after the midfielder’s strong start to the season, according to reports.

The Daily Mail write that the Gunners are considering a move for the 25-year-old next summer. Jorginho isn’t the kind of player to be regularly involved in the goals, as is evident from the fact that last season he didn’t score at all, and this campaign he has two in 11 appearances.

However, he still plays a key part in Napoli’s team from defensive midfield, and is one of the reasons the side have made such a strong start to the season in Serie A, winning 10, drawing one and losing none.

Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, told Radio Kiss last year (via Daily Mail): “Interest from Arsenal? It’s true. After the game against Palermo, compliments arrived from Real Madrid as well. Only compliments, nothing more. But it’s pleasing to receive expressions of respect from one of the most prestigious clubs in the world.”

Of course, agents are paid to whip up interest in their clients, so it’s possible he was just playing up for the media, but if it was true then, Arsenal would have even more reason to be interested now.

Napoli play against Manchester City on Wednesday night, so that will be another chance for Arsenal scouts to watch and take notes on how the Brazilian-born midfielder plays against Premier League opposition.

Considering Wilshere still hasn’t yet signed a new contract and there have been doubts about some of the other midfielders recently, it’s definitely possible the Gunners are starting to look elsewhere.
