Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Luke Shaw’s situation at Manchester United.

Shaw has allegedly fallen out with Jose Mourinho and could be looking for a move away from United in the summer. Although a January loan move could still being possible.

The England international is yet to make a start this season and has instead been restricted to just two League Cup appearances for the first team and four for the reserves.

The unstable situation has reportedly attracted the attention of Arsenal, as well as Everton, Chelsea and City. Considering the Gunners don’t have any replacements should Sead Kolasinac get injured, unless they want to move Nacho Monreal back out wide, it’s a plausible rumour. Although United selling to us doesn’t exactly look likely.

The Red Devils signed the 22-year-old from Southampton for £28m in 2014 and are therefore apparently hoping to recoup a fair chunk of that fee. Although Transfermarkt claims his contract runs out in June, United have reportedly invoked a 12-month extension option on his contract, taking him until 2019.

The injury-prone Englishman returned from undergoing foot surgery over the summer in August. However, Mourinho has made it clear that he doesn’t think Shaw is currently good enough to play for his side, blaming the defender’s lack of match fitness for his inability to get back into the first team.

Although you have to feel for Shaw, is bringing a £28m unfit player to north London really the answer to Arsenal’s problems?
